Marakes seyahatim cok ani ve plansiz gelisti acikcasi, yani hic programda yokken bir gün rastgele ucak biletleri bakarken gözüme carpti ve düsündüm: Afrika kitasi, farkli bir kültür, burada kar kiyametken orasi hala sicak ve günesli - eee ne duruyorum? Hemen en yakin arkadaslarimdan Asli'yi aradim (kendisi acik ara en spontane arkadasimdir bu arada) ve "Marakes?" dedim. Beni hemen anlamisti ve cevabi "tarihleri mesaj at yeter" oldu. Ve anlik kararla Aralik ayi icin planimiz hazirdi: Istikamet Kuzey Afrika - Marakes, Fas.

Hello guys! As promised, here is the post about my Marrakech trip with all its details and some insider tips. I really decided spontaneously to go to Marrakech. One day I randomly was looking for some flights and then Marrakech caught my eye: Africa, a different culture, good sunny weather while it was snowing in that moment here - so what I was waiting for? I immediately called my best friend Asli (btw, she is the most spontaneous friend of mine) and asked her "Marrakech?" She understood me right away and told "just send the departure date over and I'll be ready". And so our plan for December was ready: North Africa - Marrakech, Morocco.

Öncelikle birkac genel bilgi vereyim. Fas'a gitmek icin vize gerekmiyor, pasaportunuzu alip hemen gidebilirsiniz. Hangi ayin seyahat etmek icin en iyi zaman oldugunu sorarsaniz, büyük ihtimalle Ekim-Nisan arasidir. Yaz aylari cok sicak oluyormus, onu cekemeyebilirsiniz. Biz Aralik ayinin basinda gittik, gün icinde hava cidden piril pirildi, asagi yukari 20 derece günesli. Ancak günes battigi an öyle bir soguk oluyordu ki anlatamam. Yani geceleri odamizda sömine yaniyordu, aksi takdirde durmak imkansiz. Ucagimiz Menara International Airport'a indi, burasi Marakes'in kalbi olan Medina'ya yaklasik 10 km uzaklikta, yani asiri yakin. Biz ulasim icin taksiyi tercih ettik, bu noktada hemen yazinin en basinda belirtmem lazim: KURAL 1 - HER DAIM PAZARLIK YAP. Faslilarin gelenegidir bu, pazarlik yapmak zorundasin adeta, taksiye binmeden önce bile. Bize de havalimanindaki döviz bürosu calisani söyledi. Biz burada (havalimaninda kurlarin farkli olmasindan dolayi öncelikle taksiye yetecek kadar Fas Dirhemi (MAD) aldik. Taksiyle Medina'ya gidecekseniz 150-200 MAD'den fazla kesinlikle ödemeyin (aksam tarifesi), fiyat konusunda önceden anlasin. Bize direkt 300 dedi taksici, ama yemezler. 

First of all, some general information. The best time to plan a trip to Marrakech is during October-April I think. In the summer months it is apparently far too hot there. When we went to Marrakech, it was the beginning of December, but the weather was just perfect: sunny and 20°C warm. But I must say that the nights were pretty cold so that we had to light up the chimney in the room we stayed at. As soon as the sun goes down it becomes cool immediately, so take also warm clothes with you. When we arrived at the Menara International Airport we changed some money and got enough Moroccan Dirham (MAD) for the taxi, because the rates at the airport seemed to be far different. At the exchange office, we were told not to pay more than 150-200 MAD for the taxi to Medina, the heart of Marrakech. RULE NUMBER 1 - ALWAYS HAGGLE OVER THE PRICE. It is a norm in Morocco, you have to bargain for the best price and no worries, in Marrakech you'll improve your bargaining skills in no time. Medina is only about 10 km far from the airport. So we looked for a taxi and before we jumped in, we asked for the price first and the driver said 300 MAD - no dear, not with us. Let's begin the haggling. 

Princess feels in the most beautiful riads of Marrakech.

Marakes'te görülmesi gereken yerlerden bahsetmeden önce konaklamadan baslayalim. Biz Marakes seyahatimizde riad olarak adlandirilan geleneksel Fas mimarisini ve yasam tarzini simgeleyen 2 otelde kaldik. Ilk kaldigimiz riadimiz ismi EL FENN MARRAKECH, digeri de LA SULTANA MARRAKECH. Riadlarda kendimi gercekten masallarda gibi hissettim, muazzam bir deneyimdi benim icin.

Before I tell you about the places you have to see and about some insider tips, I'll show you our accommodations. During our Marrakech trip, we stayed at 2 different hotels called riads, these are the traditional ones which characterize Morocco. First when we arrived, we stayed at EL FENN MARRAKECH, and in order to see another riad we later moved to LA SULTANA MARRAKECH. Staying in a Moroccan riad made me feel like a princess indeed, it was such a nice experience.

EL FENN MARRAKECH

Marakes'in kendine özgü bir rengi var, kiremit kirmizisi. O yüzden buraya Kirmizi Sehir de deniliyor. Evlerin duvarlarina, sokaklara hep bu renk hakim - ilk dikkatimizi ceken bu oldu tabi ki. Otele giderken sokaklari inceledim, sehri bölgelere ayiran surlar mevcut ve evler hep büyük büyük duvarlardan olusmakta. Disardan bakinca 'siradan' bir duvar gibi sanki. Ancak otele ulastigimizda o büyük kapi acilinca gözlerimize inanamadik: masallar diyari. Disardan bakildiginda kesinlikle fragman vermiyor, en ufak bir fikriniz olmuyor iceride ne olduguna dair, tam bir sürpriz. Ancak kapilarin ardinda öylesine muazzam bir yapi var ki. Büyük bir avlu, agaclar, cicekler, balkonlar, Fas'in geleneksel renkli mozaik dösemeleri ve nane kokusu. El Fenn'e adim attigimda hissettigim sey sanki gizli bir gecit bulup masallar diyarina gelmisim hissiydi. Sicacik bir karsilama sonrasi hemen Fas'in geleneksel taze nane cayi ikram edildi. Ben nane cayi delisiyimdir, ancak itiraf etmeliyim ki bu kadar iyisini daha önce hic icmemistim!

Marrakech has an iconic color, brick red. That's why the city is also called the Red City of Morocco. All the streets, all the walls have almost the same color and look uniformly which I really love. Another significant landmark is the height of the walls around the city. You can't imagine what is hidden behind the walls of the houses. Especially the riads are hidden gems: from the outside absolutely inconspicuously, but from the inside simply magical. When we arrived at El Fenn and the door was opened, we were surprised! The beautiful and spacious patio with plants and trees, the balconies, the design with colorful traditional mosaics, the smell of fresh mint - the whole interior was so magical and we fell in love immediately! It was like we had found a secret gate and came to a fairyland. The staff was absolutely friendly. They welcomed us very cordially and offered us fresh mint tea. I love mint tea and must admit that this was the best I ever had!

Cayimizi ictikten sonra bizim icin hazirlanan bu odaya gectik. Sanirim su ana kadar kaldigim en otantik ve enteresan oda oldu. Ben böyle oryantal dekorasyonu cok severim dogru kullanildiginda. Buranin da tasarimini asiri kaliteli ve orjinal buldum. Ayrica yüksek tavanlara karsi zaafim var, cok begeniyorum. Yani kisacasi odamiz inanilmaz genis ve konforluydu, hicbir eksik yoktu. Meyve, cesitli caylar, minibarda cesitli icecekler ve atistirmaliklar, saraplar. Her sey tamdi. Ayrica aksamlari da sömineyi yakmaya geliyorlardi, sicacik oluyordu.

This was the room we stayed at. I love love loved that interior, especially the bathtub which was definitely an eye-catcher. It was definitely the most interesting and authentic hotel room I have ever stayed at. The room was absolutely spacious and comfortable and featured simply everything you may need during your stay like a minibar filled with different soft drinks and snacks, juicy tangerines, different types of teas, wines, everything. Each evening they came to light the chimney, it was so so cozy and warm!

Odamiza cok tatli bir pembe hakimdi, ayni sekilde banyoya da. Banyomuz da oda gibi tertemiz ve tam donanimliydi. Ayrica dusun genisligine bakar misiniz? Tam dus alirken sarki söyleyip dans etmelik.  Aaa simdi aklima geldi - Marakes'in suyunda kesin bir sey var, özellikle El Fenn'in! Dus aldiktan sonra saclarimiz acayip yumusak oldu ilginc bir sekilde. Yani öyle az buz bir sey de degil, fazla yumusakti sasirdik. Genel anlamda odamizdan fazlasiyla memnun kaldik.

Our bathroom was also absolutely clean and beautiful, especially the shower was really spacious and perfect for dancing and singing while taking a bath.  By the way, the water made our hair so smooth and shiny, it was really remarkable. So all in all, we were really happy about spending some days in an amazing room like this.

Kahvalti, otelin teras katinda servis ediliyor. Terasi birazdan daha detayli gösterecegim, buradaki manzara tek kelimeyle enfes. Klasik kahvaltiya granola, yogurt, meyve, receller, ekmek cesitleri, taze sıkılmıs portakal suyu ve taze nane cayi dahil. Ek olarak menüden de bir seyler secebilirsiniz, örnegin omlet cok lezzetliydi. Faslilarin kültürü cok fazla Fransiz kültürüne adapte edilmis, sanirim bu yüzden kahvaltiya tatli seyler hakim. Hatta genel anlamda yemekler fazla tatliydi, ancak bundan ilerleyen kisimlarda bahsedecegim, icimi dökmem lazim. Kahvalti doyurucu olmasina doyurucuydu, ancak bir Türk kahvaltisi kadar tatmin edici degil bu kesin.

The breakfast was served on the rooftop terrace of the hotel and included granola, yogurt, fresh fruits, jams, bread, freshly squeezed orange juice and of course mint tea. Additionally you can also order a warm meal from the menu. I can recommend the omelette, it was really tasty. About the breakfast I can say that it was quite like French style, sweet and light. Everything was super tasty and we enjoyed it totally. 

Otelin terasi efsaneydi, burasi tam Fas iste! Gerek terasin dekorasyonu ve oturma alanlari, gerekse o Marakes manzarasi tek kelimeyle muazzamdi. Burada vakit gecirmekten ve günesin tadini cikarmaktan inanilmaz keyif aldik biz. O degil de, otel kompleksinin ne kadar genis oldugunu hala algilayamiyorum. Ben kücük bir sey bekliyordum, ancak o kadar büyük ki, sanirim her yerini gezemedim bile otelin. Isin ilginc yani, her kösesinde de ayri bir güzellik var, fotograf cekmeye doyamadim. Ayrica minik kaplumbagalar da kesfetmek mümkün. 

My personal highlight was definitely the rooftop terrace and the magical view over Marrakech's roofs. We loved spending time on the terrace and feeling the sun on our skin again. By the way, I could never ever imagine how large the hotel complex is, I was really astonished and wonder if I have seen every part of the hotel. Exploring the hotel complex was so much fun indeed, and there were also mini turtles. 

Bu kadar fotojenik bir otel yok baska, bildiginiz katalog cekimleri icin birebir. Hatta biz oradayken de bir marka icin cekim yapiliyordu. Otelde üc adet havuz bulunmakta ve havuz alanlari cok güzel. Girmeseniz bile kitabinizi alip rahat rahat okuyabilir, dinlenebilirsiniz. 

I must admit, this was definitely one of the most photogenic hotels I have ever stayed at. The entire hotel complex was simply magical and I couldn't resist taking photos of each corner. The hotel provides three pools and the pool areas are perfect for relaxing.

I am so in love with El Fenn Marrakech and can absolutely recommend this hotel. Our room was comfortable and clean, the staff was always friendly and attentive and also the hotel interior was extremely beautiful so that you can enjoy your stay to the fullest. Marakes riadlariyla meshur oldugu icin farkli bir tane daha görmek adina ikinci bir riada gectik: Kasbah'ta bulunan La Sultana Marrakech. Burasi da Fas mimarisiyle tasarlanmis güzel ve epey büyük bir otel. Otele gelir gelmez, check-in esnasinda badem sütü ile hurma ikram edildi. Faslilar o kadar misafirperver ki, hep ikramlarda bulunuyorlar ve her konuda yardimci olmaya calisiyorlar. Check-in islemimiz tamamlandiktan sonra bize otel kompleksini gezdirdiler ve teras katinda nane cayi ve kurabiye ikram ettiler. Marakes'te benim en sevdigim sey bu teraslar oldu gercekten, bütün günümü burada gecirebilirim!

In order to see another traditional riad of Marrakech, we decided to spend also some days at La Sultana Marrakech which is located in Kasbah. This is a large hotel with a traditional Moroccan architecture. When we arrived at La Sultana, we were welcomed very warmly and were offered almond milk and delicious dates immediately at the entrance. Moroccans are extremely friendly and helpful people and are absolutely hospitable. Everywhere we were always offered anything like tea or snacks, so cute. After checking in the hotel, we were guided to the rooftop terrace where we were served fresh mint tea and biscuits before we went to our suite.

Biz Crocodile Suite'te kaldik. Bu oda da oldukca genis ve otantik bir tasarima sahip. Odada Afrikan stilinde elementler kullanilmis ve sicak bir hava yaratilmis. Ben seviyorum orjinal tasarimlari, illa kendi zevkimize göre olmak zorunda degil mesela, farkli olunca ilham veriyor bir sekilde. Acikcasi bana cok ilginc geldi ve odanin her kösesini incelemek istedim, kücük detaylar cok ilgimi cekiyor.

The room we stayed at was called Crocodile Suite and was furnished with African decoration elements. I really love authentic interiors and this one was definitely an interesting one. Our suite was absolutely spacious and the ceilings were high what I liked most about it. Also all the details were interesting and true eye-catchers.

Banyosu benim highlight'im oldu dogrusu, hele o küvet! Bu arada banyo, fotograflarda görünenin cok daha fazlasi. Yan tarafta daha aynalar var ve ayri bir dus ve soyunma odasi da mevcut. Anlayacaginiz oda kadar vardi herhalde genisligi. Ben genis banyolari cok severim. Ve bunun tasarimina bayildim. Üstelik temizlik konusunda da söylenecek söz yok, tertemiz ve piril pirildi her yer.

The bathroom was also super beautiful. Omg, can we just stop and stare at that magical bathtub? The bathroom was really spacious and featured a shower, a bathtub, a walk-in closet, a dressing table and two basins. Everything was clean and tidy. I loved its unique design.

La Sultana'nin avlusunda bulunan genis havuzu benim favorim oldu. O kadar dinlendirici ve büyüleyici buldum ki o alani anlatamam, sabahtan aksama kadar orada otursam sıkılmam dogrusu. Keske hepimiz riadlarda yasasak ya. Eskiden bu riadlar gercekten ev olarak kullanilirmis biliyor musunuz? Otele dönüstürmüsler artik. Biraz daha vaktimiz olsa farkli farkli riadlari ziyaret etmek isterdik.

But my personal highlight was this patio pool - pure magic indeed! I could definitely spend my whole day there relaxing and wouldn't get tired of it. Can I please live in a riad for the rest of my life? By the way, riads were used to be typical Moroccan houses in the past, now they turned to hotels. If we had enough time, we would have visited some other riads for sure. Maybe next time. 

Kahvalti da, acik büfe seklinde bu havuzun kenarinda servis ediliyor. Büfede cesit cesit yiyecekler mevcuttu, sebzeler, meyveler, müsli, ekmek cesitleri, meyve sulari... ve tabii ki nane cayimiz da hemen geldi! Marakes'te bulundugumuz süre boyunca ictigimiz nane caylarinin haddi hesabi yok. Ama onlar da biz nasil siyah cay iciyorsak onu iciyorlar sürekli, napalim. Kahvalti gercekten güzeldi, özellikle havuz kenarinda oldugu icin ayri bir keyifliydi. Bilirsiniz, ben havuz kenarinda yemek yemeyi cok severim.  Bu arada kahvalti esnasinda masamiza kendi ülkemizin o günkü gündemini ve haberlerini özetleyen bir kagit geldi. Ne kadar dikkatli ve özenli bir davranis, takdir ettim ve sasirdim dogrusu!

The breakfast buffet was rich and fresh and offered everything imaginable from various baked goods to muesli, fresh fruits and vegetables, freshly squeezed juices and of course warm mint tea. We enjoyed having our delicious breakfast by the patio pool - you know that I love having my meals by the pool the most.  While we had our breakfast, the staff brought us a paper which summed up all the daily news of the country we come from - wow, what an attention!

La Sultana da büyük bir otel bu arada, icini gez gez bitmiyor. Dilerseniz geleneksel hamam ve masaj deneyimi de sunuyor. Onun yani sira otelde dekorasyon anlaminda kullanilan detaylara bayildim, özellikle kaktüslere (kaktüs benim en sevdigim bitkidir). Yazinin ilerleyen kisminda Marakes'te kesfettigim bir kaktüs cennetinden bahsedecegim yazinin devaminda. 

The hotel complex is surprisingly large and there are so many corners to explore. By the way, if you want to have a spa day with traditional hammam ritual and massage, take the chance to do it at La Sultana, the spa is amazing! And also try to enjoy the silence in the beautiful patio with plants like palms and cactuses (cactuses are my favorite plants btw). In Marrakech I have also visited a cactus heaven, stay tuned for the details. 

Teras yine en cok vakit gecirdigimiz yerlerden biri oldu. Buranin manzarasi da enfesti dogrusu. Beni Marakes'te en cok büyüleyen seylerden birisi, disarinin dinamikligi ve riadlarin icinin sakinligi oldu. Marakes, carsi ve pazarlariyla, günlük yasamiyla asiri hareketli, kalabalik, gürültülü ve enerji dolu bir sehir. Onun aksine riadlarin ici bu hareketli yasamdan bir kacis gibi, nasil sakin, nasil sessiz! Terasta oturmak ve asagidaki pazarlari izlemek cok keyifliydi bu yüzden (bu arada Marakes'in carsilarina girip sag cikan bence kendini gazi ilan edebilir, savas alani gibi bol itismeli kakismali ). Bu arada gördügünüz gibi ben yine bir yerlere tirmandim fotograf ugruna, ama bu sefer de düsmedim merak etmeyin.

I love love love rooftop terraces and the view from La Sultana was simply breathtaking. From up above you can watch the dynamic and overcrowded streets of Marrakech. The contrast between the overcrowded loud streets and the silent and idyllic riads is really surprising. Outside the hotel: hustle and bustle. Inside the hotel: peaceful. So the riads are the perfect getaway and the terrace is the best place to enjoy the view! As you can see, I climbed once again anywhere in order to take photos and was rooftopping like a boss. 

La Sultana'yi da kesinlikle tavsiye edebilirim, burasi digerinden biraz daha lüks diyebilirim, ancak personelin samimiyeti cok baskaydi, cok yakin ve güleryüzlülerdi hep. Genelde bes yildizli otellerde asiri bir mesafe olur, ben sahsen samimiyetsiz bulurum o kadar mesafeyi, ama yine de anlayabiliyorum sebebini. Bu otelde personel cok sicakkanli ve ilgiliydi, ancak Faslilarin genel mizaci böyle zaten, cok sicakkanli, güleryüzlü ve yardimsever insanlar. We enjoyed our stay at La Sultana to the fullest and I definitely can recommend this hotel too. This one was a little more luxury I think. The staff was always so so friendly and attentive - but so are almost all Moroccan people; friendly, helpful and hospitable. MESHUR MEYDAN: DJEMAA EL FNA

Burasi Marakes'in en meshur meydani, her yol buraya cikiyor bence ve gitmezseniz kesinlikle olmaz. Özellikle aksam gitmenizi tavsiye ederim cok büyüleyici oluyor ve bir anda panayir alanina dönüsüyor. Maymun terbiyecilerini mi ararsiniz, kobra dans ettiren göstericileri mi, yoksa falcilari mi? Hepsi burada. Ayrica yemek yiyebileceginiz ve yerlilerin arasina karisabileceginiz bir yer burasi. Ancak sunu belirtmeliyim ki, burasi inanilmaz hareketli bir meydan. Yani laf atilmadan iki adim atmaniz imkansiz, sürekli bir cekistirmece, sürekli bir seyler satmaya calismaca. Ama yine de cok keyifli bir deneyim oldu bizim icin, epey güldük oradan gecerken. Hatta su an aklima gelince bile gülüyorum. 

MAIN SQUARE: DJEMAA EL FNA

Djemaa El Fna is the main square of Marrakech and should be your first stop. I would recommend to see it in the day and by night. Especially by night it is absolutely magical, you can see all the monkey handlers, snake charmers, acrobats and fortunetellers. Also there are multiple stands under the tents where you can taste traditional dishes of the Moroccan cuisine. It is nearly impossible to walk through the square without being talked to and asked to dinner. This hustle and bustle was far too much but exciting af. 

CARSILAR (SOUK)

Souk olarak adlandirilan carsi ve pazarlari gezin ve alisverisinizi buralarda yapin. Djemaa el Fna meydaninin arka tarafinda büyük bir souk var, burayi Istanbul'un Kapali Carsi'si gibi düsünebilirsiniz, sadece cok daha karmasik ve labirent gibi. Biz buradan epey ivir zivir aldik. Bu arada pazarlik yapmayi unutmayin, buranin gelenegidir bu. Size özellikle yüksek bir fiyat söyleyip pazarlik yapmanizi bekliyorlar. Yani genel olarak size söylenen fiyatin 1/3'ini ödemeniz gerektigini aklinizda bulundurursaniz iyi pazarlik yaparsiniz. Ama cok da abartip arsizlik yapmayin, yani sizin gözünüzde o esyanin degeri ne kadarsa o fiyata anlasmaya calisin. Genel anlamda fiyatlar zaten asiri uygun, cok da sey yapmamak lazim.

MARKETS (SOUKS)

Visit the markets called souks. Behind the Djemaa el Fna square there is a large souk, it's like a labyrinth and filled with lots of small shops, but the vendors are a little bit pushy. So be careful while shopping and always bargain for the best price, haggling is a tradition here. Have in mind that you should pay roughly 1/3 of the price the vendor tells you and try to haggle, be firm but polite. The prices are low anyway, so there is no need to exaggerate, just try to bargain the price you think the product is worth.

BEN YOUSSEF MADRASA

You definitely have to visit the Ben Youssef Madrasa. This beautiful architecture just inspired me totally and I was impressed by all the colorful mosaics and engravings. 

JARDIN MAJORELLE

Dünyanin belki de en güzel botanik bahcesi, Jardin Majorelle. Adeta bir kaktüs cenneti diyebilirim, ben kaktüsleri cok seviyorum, yukarda da belirttigim gibi en sevdigim bitkidir. Marakes'e gidip Jardin Majorelle'e gitmedim derseniz ayip etmis olursunuz, burasi Marakes'in adeta yasayan sanat eseri. Ayrica burada Yves Saint Laurent'nin müzesi de bulunmakta.

JARDIN MAJORELLE

This is one of the world's most famous botanical gardens, Jardin Majorelle. Let's call it Marrakech's living art work. Since my favorite plants are cactuses, this garden was heaven for me. Lots of cactuses, beautiful plants, palms.. and also you can find the Yves Saint Laurent memorial and museum here.

LA PALMERAIE

Kisa bir deve turuna katilmak istiyorsaniz La Palmeraie'ye gidin. Biz cok sevdik dogrusu, ve gün batiminda deve turuna katildik. Cok farkli bir deneyim oldu palmiyelerin arasinda gün batimini devenin üstünde seyretmek. 

LA PALMERAIE

If you want to do a short camel ride, you can do it at La Palmeraie. I can recommend to go there at sunset. It truly was such an enchanting experience to ride a camel and enjoy the most beautiful sunset ever. 

SAHRA CÖLÜ TURU

Biz maalesef zamanimizin kisitli olmasindan dolayi cöl turuna katilamadik. Marakes'ten yola cikip minimum 2 günlügüne develerle cölü geziyorsunuz ve bir gece cölde cadirda kaliyorsunuz. Bu arada Marakes'e gitmeyi düsünüyorsaniz minimum 6 günlügüne gitmenizi tavsiye ederim 2 günlük cöl turu da yapacaksaniz. Yoksa 4 gün de yeter komple sehri gezmek icin.

SAHARA DESERT TOUR

Unfortunately we hadn't have enough time to do a desert tour with the camels, since it would take a minimum of 2 days with one overnight stay in tents in the desert. It sounds absolutely exciting and I was a little sad that we hadn't the time for that. But I would definitely go there once again just to do the desert tour! By the way, if you plan to do a 2-days desert tour, your trip should not be shorter than 6 days in Marrakech. But if you just want to explore Marrakech, then a minimum of 4 days would be enough.

IYI RESTORANLAR VE TATMANIZ GEREKENLER

Souklarin üzerinde muazzam terasiyla size Marakes'in Nomad isimli meshur restoranini tavsiye edebilirim. Birkac yerde yemek yedik ancak en iyisi buradaydi. Acikcasi Fas mutfagi beni hayal kirikligina ugratti genel anlamda, ben bol baharatli güzel yemekler yapiyorlar zannediyordum. Meger her seyi tatli yiyorlarmis. Bütün yemeklerin icinde ya hurma var, ya kayisi var ya da incir var, tövbeler olsun. Fas mutfaginin meshur yemegi tavuklu tajin yiyelim dedik, benim hic damak zevkime uymadi. Yani tamam Nomad bu anlamda gercekten iyi olabilir, pisirilmesi, lezzeti falan yerindeydi ona diyecek sözüm yok. Ancak bana hitap etmedi Fas yemekleri. Tuzlu acili bir sey yok mu burada diye isyan edecektim son gün artik. Couscous da yedik, cok da enteresan bir sey degil. Ama tabii oraya gitmisken onlarin meshur yemeklerini tatmamak olmaz. Bence güzel degil ama tecrübe icin denemek sart yine de.  Nomad ve Cafe des Epices iyiydi restoran olarak. Bu arada bu yazida milyon kez söyledim ama bir kez daha söyleyeyim, nane cayi efsane. Ve taze sıkılmıs portakal suyu standlari da harika, ictigim en iyi portakal suyuydu Marakes'teki. Ayrica nargile seviyorsaniz, Marakes bunun icin iyi bir adres.

GOOD RESTAURANTS AND WHAT YOU HAVE TO EAT

For having lunch or dinner I can recommend Marrakech's most popular restaurant Nomad and the Cafe des Epices. You should try all the traditional dishes of Moroccan cuisine like chicken tagine and couscous. I was a little surprised about the Moroccan cuisine indeed and before I went to Morocco, I thought that they would use a lot of different spices. But the dishes I tried there were sweet - I think because of the dates, apricots and figs. I personally don't prefer sweetened dishes, but anyway, I wanted to collect experiences and taste all the traditional dishes they have, even if they were not my cup of tea.  But what I loved most was the fresh mint tea they offered us everywhere, so sweet and delicious! And the freshly squeezed orange juices are super tasty as well and were the best ones I had in my entire life. If you like smoking hookah, Marrakech is a good address for it.

- Günlük yapilacaklar listesinin en basina PAZARLIK eklemelisiniz. Pazarlik yapmak gelenektir.

- Size sürekli yolu göstermek isteyen gencler olacaktir, aman ha 'merci' diyip gecin. Önce yanlis yönü gösteriyorlar, sonra pesinizden gelip dogru yolu göstermek icin sizden para istiyorlar. Yani illa yol soracaksaniz esnafa falan sorun, onlar cok yardimsever.

- Büyüleyici Medina'nin sokaklarini plansiz kesfe cikin ve sehri hissedin.

- Gideceginiz tarihi iyi secin. Zaten asiri kalabalik ve hareketli bir sehir, sicakta, bayramda seyranda hic cekilmez.

- Argan yagi alin, cok kaliteli ve fiyati uygun.

- Hurma alacaksaniz Medjoul cesidini tercih edin, tadi inanilmaz!

- "Hello" veya "bonjour" yerine "selamün aleyküm"le yerlinin kalbini fethedin.

SOME INSIDER TIPS

- Haggling is a norm you should always make use of in Marrakech. It's a tradition here.

- On the streets there are young boys who are looking for tourists in order to show the way, just say politely 'merci' and go away because they first show the wrong direction and require money for showing the right way. If you need help simply ask the vendors, they're friendly and helpful.

- Get lost in the streets of old Medina and immerse yourself in the culture filled with lots of magic.

- Go to Marrakech during the months October-April, because the summer months are far too hot. The city itself is overcrowded and super dynamic, so the enormous heat would be harder to endure.

- Buy argan oil, it's cheap but of best quality.

- The most delicious type of dates is called Medjoul, have that in mind if you want to taste good ones.

- Instead of greeting with "hello" or "bonjour", greet with "salam alaykum" and conquer the heart of the locals.

Umarim bu yaziyi begenmis ve faydali bulmussunuzdur. Marakes'e gitmenizi kesinlikle tavsiye ederim, bence kesfetmesi inanilmaz keyifli, güzelliklerle dolu bir sehir. Benim hic aklimda yoktu, ama gidip gördügüm ve tecrübe ettigim icin öyle mutluyum ki. Belki bu yazi sizin icin de ilham olur, ben gitmenizi gönülden tavsiye ederim.
